Breastfeeding may diminish the adverse effects of air pollution and despite the risks associated with the che¹mical contamination of breastmilk, lactating parents should be encouraged to breastfeed their infants. Breastfeeding benefits outweigh the potential health risks. Moreover, breastfeeding has a limited ecological footprint and its contribution to sustainability and food security should be considered in environmental goals and policies.
